Finally I got my Race Kit at R.O.X BGC ( Bib and Authentic vapor wick technical Tee) + Camp Chair (1st five onsite registrant).

Race Kit

Camp chair + Authentic shirt + Bib for 50k

Only 2 weeks left and this is actually my 1st Ultra Trail Marathon, a combination of excited and nervousness at the same time. I’m very hopeful the training I had is enough for 50k.

So help me God!!

Finally I received confirmation via email that I’m officially registered for Soleus Valley Trail Challenge 2014 and it’s Ultra Trail Running since I’ll be joing the 50k Category. This is something new for me, why? I haven’t tried running more than 42k in low elevation trail route valley with the likes in New Zealand, other good news is part of the registration goes to HERO FOUNDATION.

I read some comments in Soleus Ph Facebook page and Pinoyfitness site on how to register in this event. They probably used to onsite and online registration, this is new to some as it requires you to deposit in BPI. Here’s how I registered:

-Go to any Bank of the Philippine Island (BPI) branch
-Fill up cash deposit form and deposit the required amount depending on the category – (15k-750.00 pesos, 30k- 1000.00 pesos, 50k- 1500.00 pesos) to HARDCORE PUBLISHING HOUSE, INC.  with account number 2371 0034 71
-Once the transaction is success get the receipt and write down the necessary information: name, shirt size and distance it should be like this:

sample deposit slip receipt

– Have it scan or take a clear photo ( mine’s taken using iPhone) together with the registration form and waiver found here: http://frontrunnermagph.wordpress.com/2013/11/12/4th-valley-trail-challenge

then email it to soleusvtc2014@gmail.com and you’ll be receiving automation response acknowledging your email. After few days you’ll get another email confirming the registration, sample email below:

Mt. Arayat 12k Mountain Race

Details of the race here: http://www.strikingly.com/arayat-mountain-race

We arrived at Abe’s Farm 5-10mins before the gunstart, since were not registered yet, we rushed and immediately for onsite registration ( no Technical shirt – limited stocks only, we were told that we will be contacted thru text for delivery of the shirt) as of this writing still no communication from them.

Our destination – Mt. Arayat

My 1st time running/hiking in Mt. Arayat and event joined hosted by Race Director Atty. Jon Lacanlale and what can I say?Wow just wow! the scenery and view is superb at the summit and the trails I like it!  I can compare the steeps like in MakTrav (Mt. Makiling Traverse) except the downhill portion of the route.

The markers are almost everywhere, good aidstations ( they offered water, chocolate bars, snacks and fruits! +10 for this)

an upHELL climb

Campers at the summit.

This is me at the summit of Mt. Arayat ( turning point of the race)

Salomon xTrail 32k Mountain Run2014

This is my 3rd year in a row for Salomon x trail event. The event held again in Hamilo Coast Nasugbu, Batangas and this year they added new category – 32k.

Map and elevation profile taken from Salomon Pilipinas facebook page.

Here are some of the photos taken from the event.

Runners traffic! Looks like in MRT station. haha

Finisher’s medal and my Race Bib

This is me at the finish line. “medal bite”

I’m very thankful to God I was able to finish within the allotted cut off time of 7hours(6hrs and 47mins) though I suffered left midfoot pain ( plantar fasciitis), I was bearing the pain from midway until the finish line. Pain I felt during Mt. Arayat Mountain Race a week prior to this event. For the results you may go here: http://www.results.runningmate.ph/index.php/event/result/154

To those who didn’t make it, cheer up! there’s still next year! I know there’s a lot of DNF runners due to the cut off time and difficulty of the route.

Here are my thoughts which I already posted in the event facebook page.

-(32k)Toughest route for me to date! Yes I need to train hard consistently esp. in elevation!!
-Cut off time midpoint was posted a day before the event
-Limited Gatorade stations(2-3) given the difficulty of the route plus the HEAT, water is not enough to be honest especially in the last 5Km
-No Bananas in Aid Stations, half bananas only after the race..wth?!
-Limited Kilometer marks unlike last year
-Swag Medal!

Will I join again next year? hmm maybe? Let’s see then.
